B.Sc - Basic - in Nursing
The course is designed to enable the student to become a professional Nurse  who are self directed & responsible citizens.  They are prepared to give comprehensive nursing care to individuals, families  & community. They are prepared to assume first level position in community & institutional nursing agencies.

This is a four year degree course affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and recognized by Indian Nursing Council vide Ref. No.11-85/2000 INC dated 12- 9 – 2002.

During the course of training the students are provided with opportunities to:
  • develop fundamental principle of nursing care  based on sound knowledge to people of all ages in a community or satisfactory level of skill in providing care
  • understand  the application of principles from the physical, biological, social, and behavioral sciences for assessing health status.
  • demonstrate ability to investigate health care problems systematically.
  • Understand the principles of teaching and their application in their work situation.
  • prepare nurses  to assume responsibility for continued learning and for increasing competence in nursing practice and
  • displays appreciation of social and ethical obligations to society.
Eligibility for Admission
Pass in 10+2 or Pre-University examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka or equivalent as recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences with English as one of the subjects and physics, chemistry and biology as optional subjects provided the candidate has secured not less than45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. (In case of SC/ST candidates the minimum is 40%)
Candidates who have passed the vocational courses of HSE, Kerala with domestic nursing and who have taken minimum of 5 subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in addition to vocational subjects are also eligible provided they have secured not less than 45% marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. ( In case of SC/ST candidates the minimum is 40%).

Candidates should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.

Candidates shall be medically fit.
Duration of the Programme
The course of study leading to B.Sc. Nursing (Basic) or Bachelor of Nursing (Basic) degree comprises of four academic years including clinical training of 24 weeks.
Maximum Period for Completion of the Programme
1. Maximum number of attempts permitted for each paper in three including first attempt.
2. The maximum period to complete the course successfully should not exceed eight years
