Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony
Dr. M .V Shetty College of Nursing  the pioneer institute in the field of professional nursing, established in 1987 in Mangalore, Karnataka , held  the lamp lighting and the oath taking ceremony for the 25th batch of  first  year basic nursing students of college of nursing  and the 18th batch of general nursing  and midwifery students of school of nursing. The ceremony took place in the auditorium of Dr M .V Shetty College, Vidyanagar, Mangalore on 25th Feb 2012.

After the invocation, Prof Vimala Prasad  , Vice principal college of nursing welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering. As we all know that “the light, the first daughter of God,Dispels darkness and spreads knowledge “. Based  on this concept ,  the dignitaries inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp . The  Lamps were distributed to students by the dignitaries who are nursing professionals which was followed by the oath taking .



The oath taking was read out by Professor . B. V.  Kathyayani , Principal  Dr. M .V Shetty College of Nursing.

 Lt. Col. Prof .Suma K.S while delivering the key note address told the  importance of lamp lighting.She spoke about the essential qualities in a nurse. She mentioned that the oath taken by the students are to be followed till the end.

Dr. Divyanjali Shetty gave the presidential address and said that nursing is a service in the highest form. Thee nurses  perform their job unselfishly without expecting anything in return.She told the students to strengthen their commitment to the profession.

Mr. Arun Shyam Philip, principal of school of nursing delivered the vote of thanks. After the formal function concluded  , students performed various cultural programmes.
